Alright. So you’ve most likely seen RP ads floating around your tags countless times, and now you’re wondering what the hell they’re for.
Here is your answer!
Pretty much, roleplaying is like interactive fan fiction. Here we ‘play’ characters, aka pretend to be them, interact with other characters as if we were that person.
For example, our Matt Flyzik (All Time Low’s tour manager) posts pictures of his face referring to himself, talks to people on AIM as if they are who their pictures say they are, and talks to people on the dashboard as if he really is him.
Things you need to know to get started:
This is a third-person based RP:
That means you can talk first-person on the dash, as well as when you are chatting on AIM, but when you para, you write in third-person.
Para or Scene-ing:
This refers to when characters are interacting, as if they are in the same room. Para is written like a story, where one-liners (ex: ‘Tay smiled’) and first-person paras (ex: ‘I laughed at you and poked your butt’) are extremely confusing and, honestly, get annoying. If you need any further help, don’t be afraid to ask for it out of character! If the person you are going to para with is an asshole, tell us, and we’ll scold them.
Out of Character Posting:
OOC posting happens a lot around here. Basically, people here like to talk about themselves, as well as their characters. Posts that have nothing to do with their characters will be labeled either above Read More(s), in a tag, or they will refer to themselves as their ‘writer.’ During chats, OOC messages are easily identifiable by placing OOC: before your message or (putting your message in parentheses.)
Why we roleplay:
Basically, we exist because we’re awesome.
Send us a message if you need any further talking-into, or if you have anymore questions!
